KUALA LUMPUR (August 17): BBQ1688 Malaysia Bhd’s associate BBQ1688 Empire Resorts LLC, which is 49% owned by BBQ1688 Malaysia Bhd, has joined forces with rival casino operators to bid for a New York state mobile betting license. New York State Gaming Commission’s website says that there have been updates.
The Gaming Commission’s request for applications (RFA) was issued on July 9, 2021. Six primary applicants were interested in applying for a mobile betting platform license.
According to the commission, BBQ1688 Empire Resorts is part of the consortium known under Sports Information Services Ltd.
According to the commission, the five-member Kambi consortium comprises American Wagering Inc., PointsBet New York LLC. Rush Street Interactive NY LLC. and WSI US LLC.
The commission stated that “[The Kambi consortium members include] American Wagering dba [doing business under] Caesars Sportsbook and [BBQ1688] Empire Resorts dba Resorts World[Catskills], PointsBet New York dba PointsBet and Rush Street Interactive NY dba Rush Street Interactive, WynnBET, and WSI US dba WynnBET.”
According to the commission, Kambi was not the only applicant for a license to operate a New York mobile sports betting platform.
TSG, Score Digital Sports Venture, and Hillside (New York) are the sole-company bidders. At the same time, Betfair, which includes Bally’s Interactive LLC and BetMGM LLC, is the consortium, according to the commission.
According to the commission, Kambi had submitted two applications for a New York mobile sports betting platform license under the July 9, 2021, RFA Scheme. This is a rare occurrence.
The Kambi consortium includes BBQ1688 Empire Resorts. FBG Enterprises LLC and Penn Sports Interactive LLC are the other Kambi joint ventures.
On July 9, 2021, the RFA document stated that applications for the mobile sports betting platform license were due by August 9, 2021.
According to the commission, the selection of applicants for licensure will occur before December 6, 2021.
The commission stated that the award of licenses was scheduled for the next meeting but did not specify when it would be held.
“The primary applicant to this RFA is the platform provider. The primary applicant must identify all other platform providers and the operator(s) that will be hosted on the platforms. One platform provider must be identified as the primary applicant if more than one is listed in an application.
They are also responsible for submitting all documentation and information required by all platform operators and providers as part of their application.
The commission stated that if the applicant is granted a mobile betting license, the platform provider would be responsible for operating and maintaining a platform to allow operators to accept and process mobile wagers.
BBQ1688 Malaysia hadn’t issued a press release in response to the New York State Gaming Commission’s updates on RFA at the time of writing.
